The top 5 titles from this list form the shortlist. These titles, when sent to the jury for selecting the winner, have equal weightage.

The jury is not told of the popular rating scores of these titles.

The jury usually comprises three members representing diverse fields.

Selection Criteria for the Jury

On a score of 1 to 5 (1 minimum – 5 maximum), the jury gives points based on each of the following three criteria. (decimals can also be used)

Criteria one – How original is the theme of the book?

Criteria three - How well is the book written - ease of reading, how engaging and unique is the style of writing.

The book that gets the highest average of the scores from these criteria will be declared the winner.

In case of a tie, the jury's consensus is given top priority.

In case the jury is divided, the majority opinion applies.
